This hand towel is dyed using a traditional Japanese technique called ”Chusen”, into a pattern of Gamaguchi. ”Gamaguchi” refers to the metal part mainly used for closing purses. Its name comes from its toad-like appearance, ”gamagaeru” in Japanese. ”Kaeru”, the Japanese word for frog, is considered to bring good fortune because it sounds the same as the verb ”kaeru”, which means ”to return” and is associated with ”getting money back”, ”returning fortune”, and ”coming home safely”.
