Product Description

This purple “fukusa”, was created by master craftsman of the Tokyo hand painted yuzen school Morikawa, who has shown his designs in various kimono and obi (sash) exhibitions, winning several prizes including the Tokyo Metropolitan Governor’s Prize. In Japan, purple cloth covers called “fukasa” are used for both congratulatory occasions such as weddings, and occasions of condolence such as funerals, as well as to wrap small objects or as a cloth base for displaying dolls or other ornaments. This purple “fukasa”, made using Tokyo hand painted yuzen, a traditional craft certified both by the Minister of the Economy, Trade and Industry (a national designation) and by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, is truly a once in a lifetime work of art.
